Instruction for speakers and poster presenters

General instructions. Please keep in mind the broad, multidisciplinary audience of the conference (ranging from molecular biologists to applied mathematicians), focus on the big picture, do not use jargon, and keep the technical aspects to the minimum. There will be ample room for specialised discussions during breaks and meals.

We are sorry that the amphitheatre screen is very small, so please reduce the information that you show per slide and use large fonts (eg Arial 40 or larger for titles/conclusions and Arial 24 for the smallest text), like in this slide: example.

Invited and contributed talks. Due to amphitheatre settings, all in-person speakers will need to bring their presentation on a USB stick (ppt or key and pdf as a backup) and copy it on the conference computer before the relevant session (during the preceding break or welcome slot).

Remote speakers will need to share their presentation from their computer (and check that screen sharing is working before the relevant session, during the preceding break or welcome slot).

Flash talks. In-person flash talk presenters will need to upload their 2 slides on a link sent before the conference (as a pdf A4 size landscape, videos not allowed) and to line following the order of presentations (click on the day to see the order of presentations: Monday, Tuesday).

Remote presenters of flash talks will need to record themselves and upload their movie on a link sent before the conference.

Talk duration. Invited talks: 40 minutes + 5 minutes for questions. Contributed talks: 15 minutes + 4 minutes for questions.
Flash talks: 90 seconds and 2 slides (1 with title and authors, 1 with contents - please focus on the question investigated and leave it to the poster for the answers) - no questions from the audience.

Posters. Width smaller than 1m, vertical (portrait) A0 format preferred, to be mounted in the morning before the session (click on the day to see poster numbers: Monday, Tuesday). Remote posters will be shown physically and participants are encouraged to email presenters to arrange a videoconference if one of them is on-line.

Remote participation

All attendees. A connection link will be sent shortly before the start of the conference.

Speakers. Please make tests before the start of the session.
